I love books with beautiful and interesting covers. However, one should not judge a book by its cover. In the past, I have made that mistake too often, but I suppose I will do it again in the future. As I said in an earlier post, I can’t help it. Books with beautiful covers invite me to pick them up and purchase them. They manage to catch my eye and cast a spell on me. As soon as I see a pretty book cover, I begin to imagine how the book will be like. I begin to dream about all the wonderful and unforgettable places I will experience. Thus, I can’t simply put the book down, but have to purchase it.
Unfortunately, not all books are as wonderful as their covers are; therefore, I often feel disappointed by them. However, there are books out there that deliver what their covers promise.
Here are ten books that have pretty covers:
Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet: A Novel by Jamie Ford
The Rose of Sebastopol by Katharine McMahon
The Alchemist’s Daughter: A Novel by Katharine McMahon
The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry
A Walk with Jane Austen: A Journey into Adventure, Love, and Faith by Lori Smith
The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters
Daphne: A Novel by Justine Picardie
The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton
Things Worth Remembering by Jakina Stark
East of the Sun by Julia Gregson
Most of these ten books are on my reading list, not (just) because they have beautiful covers, but because I have read positive reviews about them and because I am interested in them.
What about you? Do you have any favorite book covers?
